Possible venues

Here are the possible venues that I’ve come up with for next term; they all have advantages and disadvantages –I’ve detailed them underneath each entry. If you look to the left of this post, you'll see that I've also given everyone an opportunity to vote for their preferred location. (Click on the links to visit associated websites).

Tŷ’r Blodau, Singleton Park
A wonderful setting, particularly for the garden scenes of the Marriage of Figaro!. It is, however, a goodish walk from the road (there's no parking allowed in Singleton Park), and leaving your car on Sketty Road or thereabouts may prove a bit of a problem. Also, by reason of DACE policy, I doubt whether it could be our permanent home.

Hazel Court, Sketty Park
On brief aquaintance, very impressive (with good parking and a restaurant!). A problem is that next term our room wouldn't be available until 2.15, and so would trim 5 or 10 minutes off the class (taking into account that we rarely start on time, anyway). It is, as I understand it, in a social priority area, so that it could also become our venue for the next academic year.

Pantygwydr Baptist Church, Uplands
A venue I know well; I teach there on Tuesday mornings for the WEA. It’s not the most elegant of places, but the room is warm, the chairs are comfortable and there’s a kitchen where dedicated tea and coffee drinkers can (I think) brew their own. Parking can be a problem but the members of the WEA class always seem to manage. Like Hazel Court (but slightly less so) it the potential to become our domicile.
