Two works this week: the Waldstein Sonata (in C, Op.53) – the picture above is of Beethoven’s patron and dedicatee of the sonata, Count Ferdinand von Waldstein (1762–1823) – and the little, wonderfully quirky Quartett serioso in f (Op.95).
